Live Free – Die Hard.

Wow. David Carradine , Farrah Fawcett & Michael Jackson all in the same month. It’s slightly weird growing older and seeing the Hollywood icons you grew up with die off. I was an avid fan of the Kung-Fu series as a youth and, as I recall, Thriller was the first album I ever owned and of course Charlie’s Angles is a cult classic. Even though I have no direct connections, their passing leaves a bit of a void and I feel that much older. It only serves to remind us how short life really is.

With that perspective, I am all the more excited about the things to come and maybe a little scared as well. In some ways, I feel like a kid sitting around a Christmas tree shaking his presents, every moment trying to guess what’s inside that shiny paper. The lack of knowing gives it even more appeal.

The fear I possess grows side by side with the anticipation. Death, the shortness of life, reminds me that it is quite reasonable at times to throw caution to the wind and go for it all…to go for broke. Whether I fail or succeed, and I hope and plan for the latter, it’s going to be a hell of a story.
