Ambassadors Don’t Vote

The season of politics is upon us…again. It’s that ever so special time of year when America’s leaders get together and exchange insults with one another for the chance to grab a rich seat of earthly power. And wow, how the insult fly!

Perhaps there are a few politicians who carry themselves with dignity in office, but even they are encoumbered with hot air & vanity. Political back scratching. They, by virtue of their position, are unable to create or promote a sytem of governance that is “equal”. Why? Because it is impossible for man, much less a group of men, to allow an equality that violates their belief extremes. At some point someone puts a foot down and someone else steps on it. Add to that all the money floating around in the politcal sector, anyone vying for dignity is kicking against the pricks.

candidTo make matters worse, there are those politicians who, in the name of Christ or voters, try to promote their virtuous beliefs into legislation. They are politcians who believe in the law.
How is the law enforced? It is enforced with a gun. It is backed up by all means necessary. Yet this the folly that the “Christian Right” follows blindly; people who believe they are doing God’s work by forcing righteousness (or justice) onto others. They are, most unknowingly, violent in their resolve.

Mat 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Ambassadors Have their own nation to represent

Politics at its best is a popularity contest for power. At its worse, it’s pure evil. Tyranny.

These are among the reasons I refuse to believe in democracy, or socialism or marxism or communism or any other form of secular government. These governments will fail. As a Christian, I can only believe in Theocracy. And one day, the theocrat will come.

Yet most of Christendom seems to have forgotten their belief in a literal kingdom, as if Christ was joking when he prayed:

Luk 11:2 …Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

I’ve written about politics before so these thoughts are nothing new. Just a needful reminder that we are pilgrims in a strange land, Ambassadors passing through (Heb 11:13). Remember such things and remind other Christians to do the same.
